In partnership with the Clark County Park District, we invite patrons once again to go onsite to the Davidson Interpretive Center to paint the fall foliage and the landscape around us. This style of painting is called "Plain Air" painting, where you paint the landscape directly in front of you. Although this class is geared for experienced painters, we encourage artists of all talents and ages to experience the wonder and the peace of landscape painting. For teens and adults. The Clark County Amateur Radio Association (CLARA, an organization with a 75-year history in the community) is conducting a class to prepare you for the FCC Technician Class Amateur Radio license. You'll cover the topics included on the FCC examination and gather the knowledge needed to pass the test and build your first amateur radio station using American Radio Relay League (ARRL) course materials. CLARA will conduct an optional FCC authorized examination session at the end of the class. Imagine yourself on the air in about two months! Ethnography is the study and description of human cultures, but what does that really look like? Librarian and Folklorist Jerry Reed has written in fields of folklore and library science and spoken at conferences on a wide range of subjects. He will guide you through learning about what writing ethnography entails, his own research and writing process, and some ethnographic books that are available at the library for you to enjoy. Join us in the Gaier Room to learn all about writing effective, engaging and educational nonfiction content from Reference Librarian, Jerry Reed. (ages 15 and up) Jerry Reed is a librarian at Clark County Public Library and a scholar in both library science and folklore. He holds Master’s degrees in Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and in Popular Culture with a focus in Folklore from Bowling Green State University. He has published in journals such as Digest and The Journal of Academic Librarianship and has spoken at several conferences on topics of folklore and food.

Children created prints with LEGO plates and flat bricks on December 10 at the Main Library during LEGO Club. On this date, they are on display at the Springfield Museum of Art for the museum's Holiday at the Museum: Come Find Art event. Those who donate a NEW, unwrapped toy or child's NEW winter hat, mittens, gloves or socks may choose one of the LEGO prints on display. You can keep the print for yourself or give it as a gift! All items donated on this day will be given to the Miami Valley Child Development Center (Head Start) which will distribute the items to families through school sites.
