Practice makes perfect in sports, and the same is true in school. Research has shown that the best way for children to improve their reading, math, and science reasoning skills is through practice. Children are invited to practice reading with a staff member or volunteer and to receive help with their homework. Parents or caregivers may sign their children up online the day before the program. Availability is limited. This is a recurring event and takes place on Tuesdays during the school year. Your adventure awaits you at the Edmond Library in our Dungeons & Dragons campaign for teens & tweens! Join us Thursdays as we begin or continue campaigns with our experienced Dungeon Masters. Players of all skill levels are welcome (even if you've never played!) and all materials are provided. Players will work via form and email to create their characters with the DM prior to the start of the campaign. Happy Duck-tober! Come adopt a rubber duck and create a literary themed Halloween costume for them to wear. Completed ducks will be displayed at the library until 10/31/26. During this time, library guests will vote for the best dressed duck to win a prize. *Please plan to pick up your duck during the first week of November.
Does your child love the library? Have they talked about becoming a librarian or a library volunteer when they're old enough? Here at Almonte Library, if your child is between the ages of 8 - 13 years old, we are accepting applications to participate in our KID LIBRARIAN program from September 30th through October 14th. Once an application is chosen, the parent or guardian will be contacted by our professional librarian and asked to return to the library with the chosen Kid Librarian at an agreed upon time. With the professional librarian's guidance, the Kid Librarian will receive the necessary support to create Almonte's November book display for our children's area! Have you always wanted to learn how to cook, but getting out those big pots and pans just isn't it? No one wants to have to do all those dishes all the time! This program is for teens ages 12-18, who want to learn how to cook in a small but fun way! While you (probably) won't be making meals to feed a lot of people, this will be a great way to learn how to make quick easy snacks and meals for one or two using mini Dash waffle irons.
Pages & Prose Parcels Get ready for a new reading adventure every month! Pages & Prose Parcel is a four-month library book box subscription created for readers ages 7–12. Each month, you'll receive a box filled with two to three library books handpicked just for you based on your interests. Whether you love mysteries, fantasy, animals, history, or something in between, we'll do our best to choose books you'll be excited to read! The books and subscription box are borrowed from the library, so they'll need to be returned. But the fun doesn't end there—every box also includes goodies that are yours to keep! Get ready to jump, clap, and sing at our interactive toddler storytime! We'll enjoy age-appropriate books, practice early literacy skills through songs and rhymes, and have fun with creative activities. A great opportunity for toddlers and their caregivers to learn and grow together. Recommended for ages 18 months - 3 years.

Calling all Toddlers, ages 1 to 3, and their caregivers! What will be going on at the library today? Something exciting just for you! We will rotate between playtime, storytime, parachute play, or music play; but no matter what we are doing we will have fun, so come and see! Registration is required. So that we can accommodate as many children as possible, please only register for ONE class per week. Please register each child who will be participating individually. The online waitlist is in effect until 30 minutes before the listed start time of the program. After that time, if you would like to try and walk into the program on the day of, please notify the staff member at the door when you arrive. If there are last-minute cancellations or no shows we will let people in on a first come first serve basis.
