Zines as Activism
Fri, Nov 13, 3:30 PM at Martha Cooper Library. Free.
What’s a zine? Pronounced "zeen," zines are DIY booklets made by collaging text and art together to share personal stories and interests often underrepresented by mainstream media. The best thing about zines is that anyone can make them – they're easy, cheap, and can explore literally any topic or theme. No rules, no filters, no algorithm – just pure pre-internet vibes, made by you because you love what you love. Come learn about the world of DIY publishing and how zines, in particular, have played an important role in social movements for decades. You'll leave with new ideas, new friends, and an instructional zine on how to make and share your own, to make your voice heard on any issue that matters to you.
