Join us to watch a short documentary featuring former Wyoming State Archaeologist Rich Adams as he talks about the significance of pemmican and demonstrates how it was made by Native Americans in the past. We will then make our own simple pemmican, including a cereal version for children. Staff will also guide you through several educational artifacts from the Wyoming State Museum, including clothing, arrowheads, shields, bags, drums, and more. A discussion-based book club where everyone reads the same book and takes part in guided conversations that encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and different perspectives. Each meeting will also include book-inspired snacks to help bring the story to life. There is no need to check out the book, we will provide you with next month s book during each meeting. Book Babies is a shorter, less-structured early literacy class just for babies (best for ages 0 - 24 months)! It s a great time to bond with your baby and inspire a love of reading. You will learn lap bounces, tickle rhymes, movement songs, and fingerplays that you can do with your baby at home, too! We will typically read 1 developmentally appropriate book and explore 1 flannel story each week. It s also a great time for babies to start learning how to socialize with other children. After the stories, we have Stay and Play where babies can play with developmentally appropriate toys while caregivers visit. Early Literacy Classes at the Laramie County Library You are invited to join us for our free early literacy classes at the library! At all of our early literacy classes, you can expect to: hear high quality children s picture books read aloud by our early literacy educators (selected specifically for the targeted age group), sing songs and rhymes together that support the theme of the week, and enjoy other literacy-based experiences. In all of our early literacy classes, children will strengthen their gross motor skills through action songs and rhymes, and their fine motor skills
