Builders encourages children to imagine how small acts of kindness and cooperation can help create a community where everyone has a place. Performed by Fede Collina and Hannah Eicholtz! The performance is approximately 30 minutes long.

Reading to a dog can help young readers build skills, confidence, and enjoyment in reading! We recommend that participants register in advance for a 15-minute session, and parent/legal guardian must sign a waiver.
Trying out your new reading skills in front of other people can be intimidating! But dogs always listen and never judge, even when we make mistakes. Practice reading with a furry pal at the library every 1st Tuesday afternoon and improve your skills with the listening ear of a certified therapy dog from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Feel free to bring a book from home, or browse the library shelves for books to read! Read with Freya the Springer Spaniel from 4 PM to 5 PM every first Tuesday of the month. All participants must register to reserve a time to take part. If you have not participated in our Read to a Dog program at the East Asheville Library, you will need to sign a one-time waiver for us to have on file. If you sign up a child under 8 years old, an adult must be in the room for the duration of their time slot.
