Every year, Illinois celebrates the power of reading as a family with Family Reading Night. North Branch invites families of all ages and sizes to come out and join us for a Friday evening of activities celebrating the power of reading. There will be a Storytime (4:00-4:30), and a read-a-thon (3:30-6:00). Bring your comfy blankets or plushies, and come in your PJs to snuggle in and read! There will be spaces and activities throughout the library for families of all ages, cozy light refreshments, and books (of course!). Bring your little one for sensory play fun! Parents are required to stay with their child. Suggested ages for the play items available are 2 to 5.
Got boxes of photos or slides you don't know what to do with? Are you the keeper of all the family documents and you don't want to haul those boxes of stuff around forever? The library is excited to offer personal scanning equipment for photos, documents and slides. Many of are the keeper of boxes of "things" we just can't let go of...but yet we know that the next generation doesn't want those boxes. Yet all those "things" are memories, family history, part of your life and maybe your ancestors lives, and ARE important. At the library you can put it all on an external drive, upload it to a website of your choice, and keep the family alive digitally. We suggest you watch a few training videos that linked in your registration confirmation email. The scanning area is self-serve, and easy. Staff provides limited technology help and is available for questions. We look forward to help you to save your memories. Any questions, please call 309-497-2000, and ask for Local History. Join us for a family-friendly storytime! Ages 0-5.
Best for ages 9-12. Each month, come enjoy a snack and craft while you listen to the first chapter(s) of some different books, and hang out. Book choices are intended to appeal topic and content wise 4th through 7th graders, at a variety of reading levels. Participants will have an opportunity to check out or place a hold on book(s) sampled at the end of the session.

This is an ongoing program for teens ages 13-18 who enjoy video games, friendly competition, and social interaction. Each month, participants will compete in a structured tournament featuring Nintendo Switch games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Rocket League, and other multiplayer titles.
Join us for big minds, big stories, and big imagination at Little Bookworms! Every other weekend, we will meet and discuss a picture book and do a fun craft that goes along with it! Snacks will be provided. This event is best for ages 3-7, but all are welcomed!
Ages 10-12. Join us for our monthly sessions of Dungeons & Dragons, designed for tweens. Space is limited, registration required, but you do not need to attend every session.
