Sat, Nov 21, 2:00 PM at Chozen Yogurt. Free.
Join us for Afternoon Book Club on Saturday, November 21st, at 2 PM at Chozen Yogurt. Students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to gather for great conversation, a great book, and a great drink. Your first drink is on us. This month, we ll be discussing "Starfish" by Lisa Fipps. Ever since Ellie wore a whale swimsuit and made a big splash at her fifth birthday party, people have bullied her about her weight. Now, she's found a new safe space. The swimming pool. There she can stretch out like a starfish and distance herself from the noise of the outside world. She has supporters out there, though. Her dad, her therapist, her new neighbor, everyone who loves her for who she is. With their help she hopes she can spread out like a starfish and be her true self both in and out of the pool. Afternoon Book Club is a welcoming space for students in grades 7 and 8 to share their thoughts, ask questions, and connect with other readers in a relaxed setting outside the Library. Whether you loved the book, had questions about it, or just want to hear what others thought, you're welcome to be a part of the conversation. Free copies of the book are available for pickup at the Library while supplies
